Psychotherapy can help adolescents resolve specific problems, learn more effective ways of coping, and feel happier and more confident. Some of the challenges with which I help adolescents include:

  • Anxiety, worry, and panic

  • Distressing and intrusive thoughts

  • Depression and sadness

  • Grief and loss

  • Low self-esteem, high self-criticism, and perfectionism

  • Bullying, trouble making friends, and other social challenges

  • Family conflicts

  • Parental divorce or separation

  • Academic underperformance

  • School refusal

  • Risky behaviors

  • Sexual and gender identity issues

My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth, and I especially value compassion and humor. I strive to establish a safe and supportive relationship in which young people can make sense of their experiences and practice new, more adaptive ways of behaving and relating. My work with adolescents typically includes periodic parent meetings where we can track your teen’s progress and where I can support you with challenging parenting situations.
